Hatta lies within Dubai emirates and about 100km south east of Dubai, near the Oman border. We visited it for the first time on the UAE national holiday, 2011. I was pleased by the jagged Mountain View, the pretty Hatta village, the lovely red sand dunes, the typical Arabian watch towers, and the inviting oases that are scattered at foothills of the mountains. Further into the mountains, we reached the well-known Hatta pools through an adventurous drive, and observed some interesting layered rocks on the way.

Falcon is the national bird of UAE and is a symbol of force and courage, recognizing the importance of falconry in Arab tradition and culture. The falcon species has always been regarded as a very uncommon and shy bird, and it is very rarely met with by amateur birdwatchers.
The Falcon is approximately 9kg and has a life span of 9 years. They are small birds of prey and are related to the hawk and eagle. They have pointed wings and long tails.
Falcons are strong, fast fliers with great aerial agility.
